History: President Clinton was the first President to introduce a challenge coin, followed by President Bush and President Obama. Vice President Cheney was the first Vice President to make a challenge coin. While thousands of Presidential coins exist (inaugural, commemorative, and tokens), only a very small number of Presidential Challenge Coins have been made. The President and Vice President have typically only handed these out to Military members, their families, a select few dignitaries, and other people that have supported the Nation in one way or another. To date, the following POTUS, VPOTUS Challenge Coins have been made:
POTUS coins made to date: POTUS Obama, POTUS Bush (4 variations), POTUS Clinton.
VPOTUS coins made to date: VPOTUS Biden (3 variations), VPOTUS Cheney (2 variations).
